About
I am a self-confessed bookworm and post reviews of some of the books I read. Find me also on Goodreads, Amazon and Pinterest. I am a reviewer for The IndieView and NetGalley. I do not receive monetary compensation for my reviews. Some but not all of the books I review are provided by the author or publisher. I read across genres, love narrative non-fiction, biographies, history and many other types of writing including but not limited to: Crime Fiction (true or fictionalized), Dystopian/apocalyptic/science fiction, Fantasy/Paranormal/Magical Realism where romance is not primary, Historical UK crime fiction, 19th and 20th century British historical fiction and non-fiction, WWII (European Theater) fiction/non-fiction, Cold War theme non-fiction, and Russian history.
Reading is a fulfilling part of my life, but like police procedurals being one section within the genre of crime fiction, reading is just one of my many interests. For as long as I can remember, trains, planes, and the military have fascinated me. My grandfather on my father’s side was a fireman and then an engineer for Atlanta and West Point Railroad became part of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and ultimately CSX Transportation until he retired. As for planes, I love to fly and spent much of my girlhood at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport when it was the William B. Hartsfield Atlanta Airport looking out at the planes at the gates while waiting for my cousin Mike to arrive from Virginia. And the military? I suppose my fascination derives (and still does, albeit with my husband) from watching old WWII movies with my father. Favorite movies or series featuring the military include Band of Brothers, Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan and American Sniper.
Hi Susan, I saw your blog listed in the Book Review Directory. I blog and write, and noticed that most reviewers work hard reading and writing reviews, but don’t get much traffic for all that work, including myself. Like Ryan Lanz, I’d like to feature your work on my site. Each week I feature a specific genre. If you have a book review for that genre post the link in the comment section. I will visit it and list all the links the next week and on my link page as well. You don’t have to read another book, but advertise a post you’ve already created. Yeah!!! I read that you review biographies. Here is a link for memoirs. http://wp.me/p7tP3I-eS.There is no catch. I’m retired, love to read and blog for fun. Marsha 🙂
